Universal Music and AI music startup SoundLabs will collaborate to customize voice cloning models for singers
Universal Music Group (UMG) has partnered with AI music technology company SoundLabs to provide singers and artists with the technology to create a clone model of their own voice.
Singers and artists can use SoundLabs’ MicDrop feature to generate their own voice models by providing data and have free control over how those models are used. These voice clones will not be available to the public.
In addition to simply duplicating voices, MicDrop also offers a voice-to-instrument feature, similar to the ability to make a keyboard sound like a guitar or drums. MicDrop also offers a language transfer feature, helping artists release songs in any language worldwide without language barriers.
MicDrop’s Key Features
Speech model creation :
- Artists can use the data they provide to create their own voice models.
- The creation and control of these voice models rests entirely with the artists, ensuring clear ownership and usage rights.
Voice to instrument function :
- MicDrop is able to convert your voice into different instrument sounds, similar to making a keyboard sound like a guitar or drums.
- This feature provides more flexibility and creative space for music creation.
Language conversion function :
- MicDrop provides language conversion function to help artists translate songs into different languages, thus breaking through language barriers.
- This will allow artists to release music globally and expand their audience.
Protecting Artists’ Rights :
- The voice models in MicDrop will not be available to the public, ensuring that the artist’s virtual likeness cannot be misused.
- Artists have full control over the ownership and usage of these models, preventing unauthorized use.
